After months of collaborative work by members of the Moreton Bay Region Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence (CCR2DV) network, the 2011 “Safety Card” for Moreton Bay Region was finally launched on27 June 2011 at Northlakes.
Estrella, convenor of CCR2DV, said: “Safety Card” is a compilation of relevant phone numbers to assist people who are affected by domestic and family violence. The first ‘safety card’ for Caboolture & Kilcoy only was published in 2008 and printing was funded by the Zonta Club Redcliffe. Since the amalgamation of the councils, CCR2DV members felt that it was necessary to produce a new card that would cover the services for the region.”
“Workers have commented how they found the card valuable in assisting their clients”, she said. “Domestic violence is a community concern and it is wonderful to see the cooperation between agencies and community groups such as Zonta, in being involved in the project.”
Pine Rivers Police DV Liaison Officer, Sue Tomsett, said that they hand out the cards to people who seek police assistance.
The printing of the card was made possible through the support and donation of the Zonta Clubs of Redcliffe, Pine Rivers and Caboolture. The Presidents of the three Zonta Clubs have indicated their support for future CCR2DV projects that would support and help people, particularly women and children.
